LUBBOCK, Texas — Measles cases in West Texas had significantly slowed down since the outbreak started back in January.
Lubbock Public Health director, Katherine Wells, explained a possible reason as to why the spread had slowed down so much.
“One key one is, you know, vaccination because that’s really the only way to prevent measles infection. We’ve also built up a lot of natural immunity because we’ve had lots of individuals, especially in the Gaines County area, that have, you know, now have the natural immunity to measles because they’ve had the virus; and then I think we’ve also, the other thing that helped was kind of awareness about measles,” Wells said…
