LOUISVILLE, Ky. — At Algonquin Park, there have been renewed concerns of safety after gunfire broke out in the area on back-to-back weekends.

- The councilwoman also intends to begin holding office hours in the Algonquin community for those who have concerns about public safety
The violence has overshadowed the reopening of the Algonquin Park pool in May, but Metro Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins, District 1, stressed the incidents did not take place at the pool and that there are incoming safety measures to make sure people at the park are safe.
“That park has cameras all over it,” she said. “The only thing that it is lacking is the license tag reader when you’re coming through the park. Maybe speed humps to slow people down, and a fence. And cameras under the gazebos.”
