Arson Suspected in Monday Fire at Folsom Lake

A grass and brush fire that ignited near Folsom Lake is now being investigated as a possible act of arson, according to fire officials.

The blaze broke out Monday afternoon on the Granite Bay shoreline, near the boat ramp and Bender’s Beach—an area often populated with summer visitors. The fire burned just under half an acre of dry vegetation before crews were able to contain it. Firefighters from local and state agencies responded quickly to prevent the fire from spreading, thanks in part to calm wind conditions and rapid deployment.
