(Lafayette, Louisiana) Authorities across South Louisiana are reminding residents to lock their vehicle doors this summer, as many teens are out of school.
Every summer, we see reports of an increased number of vehicle break-ins, and often police attribute this to the fact that there are more teenagers out walking late at night. With school out for the summer, young men and women are staying out later than usual, and sadly, some are tempted to engage in illegal activities, like breaking into vehicles.
I recently ran into a friend of mine who works for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Department, and when I asked her if they were staying busy this summer, she said it has been non-stop. She elaborated that teens are running around the parish pulling on the doors of trucks, and some are walking away with more than just loose change…
