Weeks from now, when the inaugural members of Winter Haven Hospital’s first Career Camp report back to school, they’ll regale their classmates with stories about their hands-on education on what makes the hospital tick.
They’ll probably start with the pig lungs.
The hospital welcomed the ten high-school-age students from June 3-5 to learn about health care careers, both clinical and non-clinical.
The students learned about infant care from the labor and delivery, mother/baby and education teams at Winter Haven Women’s Hospital; snuck some snacks from the Food and Nutrition team; heard about the role that the Clinical Engineering team plays in keeping the hospital humming and took tours of the hospital’s operating room and emergency department – just to name a few…
