A Charlotte hotel has officially shut down after mounting security concerns, rising crime, and a recent tragedy pushed the property past a breaking point.
The Baymont Hotel on Equipment Drive, long marketed as a safe and affordable option for travelers, closed this week following an announcement from Cedric Dean. Dean is the founder and CEO of the HELP Program, which operates the site. CBS 17 reported the closure follows several months of escalating safety issues and community tension.
“From day one, we hoped this space would serve as a secure and respectful place for guests and neighbors alike,” Dean said in a statement Tuesday. “But we’ve reached a point where the situation is no longer sustainable.”…
