Pedestrian, 88, flown to hospital after Harrisonburg crash

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – The Harrisonburg Police Department is investigating a crash involving a pedestrian that happened just after 10 a.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of South Main Street.

An HPD supervisor was patrolling in the area when it came upon the traffic crash, according to an HPD release. An 88-year-old woman from Harrisonburg was assessed and received care from Harrisonburg Rescue before she was transported to University of Virginia by Air Care, as she was considered “critically injured,” the release said.

The crash happened as a Toyota sedan was driving south on South Main Street in the left lane, and the pedestrian was travelling from east to west across the roadway but not at a designated sidewalk, according to the release. An 86-year-old woman from Rockingham County was driving the car, and she “immediately stopped after the impact and was cooperative with the investigation,” the release said…
