The Greenville Zoo has a new addition: a baby Masai giraffe.
Autumn, a 19-year-old Masai giraffe, gave birth to a male calf at approximately 6:30 p.m. June 7. According to the zoo, the unnamed calf was 6 feet, 1 inch tall at birth and weighed 132 pounds.
The recent birth represents Greenville Zoo conservation efforts to help strategically repopulate endangered species, like Masai giraffes.
