Almost 800,000 gallons of wastewater overflow in Mobile, MAWSS says

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Mobile Area Water and Sewer System has issued a wastewater overflow advisory for parts of Mobile.

According to a MAWSS news release, the issue was caused by a broken pipe, and was reported by Baykeeper at 7273 Wilson Street.

According to the report, approximately 799,817 gallons of wastewater overflowed into a ditch that had eroded within an easement between Old Shell Road and Airport Boulevard.

At least 622,080 gallons of water was contained within the ditch, but 177,737 gallons of water flowed into Milkhouse Creek, the release said…
