NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting and robbery incident that occurred last week near a bus stop, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
According to a news release from the MNPD, James Jones Jr., 51, is accused of shooting a man in the leg before taking his phone, cash and backpack. Police had issued warrants for Jones’ arrest for the incident, which occurred on June 12 at 10 Fairfield Avenue.

A Hermitage precinct officer was conducting patrol Wednesday around 2 a.m. when he saw Jones riding a bicycle on Fairfield Avenue, according to police.
Police said the officer tried to take Jones into custody, but Jones allegedly dropped the bicycle he was riding, ran off and threw a handgun under a car. Officers ultimately apprehended Jones “a short time later” and recovered the weapon, according to MNPD.

Officials said Jones was found to have three phones, .5 grams of fentanyl and 2.6 grams of cocaine. He’s facing charges including aggravated robbery, being a felon in possession of a handgun, drug possession, evading and resisting arrest, gun possession while under the influence and a probation violation…
