Pinpoint Weather: Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued until 9 p.m.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 9 p.m. for counties along and east of the Blue Ridge. This also includes the cities of Roanoke, Lynchburg, and Danville.

Damaging wind gusts up to 75 mph and isolated large hail are the main threats with storms as the develop and move into the Piedmont through this afternoon into the evening.

The tornado threat is lower; however, an isolated, brief tornado cannot be ruled out with the greatest chance northeast of a line from Hot Springs to Charlotte Court House.
