SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Fire crews are racing to contain yet another fire in Lakeside, mere miles from where they had been battling the Monte Fire.
The second fire, called the “Hawick Fire,” prompted a new round of evacuation orders and warnings for neighborhoods directly south of Interstate 8, as it burns in the area of the Crestridge Ecological Reserve.
As of 4:19 p.m., the fire, which is moving with a dangerous rate of spread, had burned 51 acres and is 5% contained, according to Cal Fire.
