Proposed corner market with gas station, car wash in east Ventura approved

The Ventura Planning Commission approved a two-story corner market with a Shell gas station and an automatic car wash over the objections of some residents.

The project, proposed for a vacant lot at the southeast corner of Wells and Telegraph roads, was approved by five commissioners at a special meeting on June 17. Commissioners Lucas Zucker and Scott McCarty were absent.

“It’s quite a concern that there will be more traffic, more noise,” said resident Leslie Purcell, echoing concerns from two other residents at the meeting. “We need a lowered speed limit and signage there because people drive so fast through there, it’s already very dangerous.”…
