New Hanover County is purchasing a home near New Hanover High School following requests from a local advocacy group.
The New Hanover Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of 21 South 13th St. at a regular meeting on June 16. The county will enter a contract to purchase the property at the negotiated price of $275,000. The money will come from the county’s fund balance. The property, which includes a three-bedroom home, will be immediately deeded to New Hanover County Schools.
The 3,150-square-foot property is immediately adjacent to New Hanover High School and the only land on the block not yet owned by New Hanover County Schools. The purchase will allow for better campus security as well as provide space for future growth, according to county documents. The tax value of the property is $232,800…
