Plymouth County DA announce details, identities, concerning 22- and 18-year-olds killed in murder-suicide

BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police are investigating a domestic murder-suicide, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz.

On Wednesday, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Brockton Police received a 911 call from the landlord at 643 North Main Street, reporting that his upstairs tenant found his son and his girlfriend deceased in their apartment. Brockton Police, Fire, and Brewster EMS responded and discovered an 18-year-old female, Yoraily Santos, in the kitchen with multiple gunshot wounds. In a bedroom, they found 22-year-old Starli Roa Taveras with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm was found near Taveras.

Brockton Police notified Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and an investigation began. Surveillance footage from inside and outside the apartment, along with witness statements, indicates that only Taveras and Santos were present at the time of the shooting.
