Strong storms sweep through Branch and St. Joseph counties

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As was forecasted for days, a line of strong storms moved through the area Wednesday afternoon and evening, prompting the National Weather Service to first issue Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for Branch and St Joseph counties at around 5:10 p.m. followed by a Tornado Warning for the northwest corner of Branch County at 5:30 p.m.

There were multiple reports of structural damage through out the both Branch and St Joseph Counties as well several downed trees but according to Central Dispatch there were no reported injuries from the storms.

Consumers Energy reported just after the storms passed that they had over 500 customers in Branch County without power and nearly 2,400 in St Joseph County. Both of those numbers were reduced over night, as of this morning 237 customers were still in the dark in Branch County and 166 in St Joe County…
