With the dangerous heat moving in this weekend, Linn County will be opening several heat relief locations.
High temperatures and humidity are forecasted to produce heat index readings near or over 100 degrees over the next several days, with highs well into the 90s.
Some of the cooling shelters in Linn County (in the KMCH coverage area) include:
- Alburnett City Hall (Mon–Fri 8 AM–12 PM)
- Central City, City Hall (Mon–Fri 7:30 AM–4:00 PM)
- Coggon Public Library (Tues 9 AM–7 PM, Wed & Fri 9 AM–5 PM, Sat 9 AM–12 PM)
- Springville Community Room & Library (Mon–Wed 11 AM–6 PM, Thurs 10 AM–8 PM, Fri 11 AM–5 PM, Sat 11 AM–3 PM)
- Springville United Methodist Church (Mon– 8:00 AM–1:00 PM, Tue & Wed 8 AM-11 AM, Thurs 8 AM-1:00 PM, Sun 8:00 AM–11 AM)
- Walker Community Room (Mon–Fri 8 AM–4:30 PM)
- Walker North Pavilion (Mon–Fri 8 AM–4:30 PM)
