Downtown Celina has been named a 2025 Accredited Main Street America program, joining a national network of communities recognized for their dedication to preservation-based economic development and revitalization. The designation, announced this June, places Celina in the top tier of Main Street programs nationwide.
The Main Street America accreditation highlights Celina’s success in transforming its historic downtown square into a thriving cultural and commercial destination. To earn the designation, Celina had to meet rigorous performance standards in six categories, including community engagement, preservation efforts, and economic strategy. The accreditation was awarded following evaluations by both the Texas Main Street Program and the national organization’s board.
A Small-Town Square With Big Energy
Downtown Celina has served as the city’s central gathering place for more than 110 years. Designated a Texas Main Street City in 1996, it continues to evolve while maintaining its small-town charm. According to the city’s official site, the Celina Main Street Program focuses on preserving historic architecture, supporting local businesses, and fostering inclusive growth.
This latest recognition from Main Street America signals that those efforts are paying off. As explained by the organization, the Accredited status shows that Celina “has an established position within a nationwide movement with a 45-year proven track record of generating impressive economic returns, building local capacity, and creating lasting impact.”

Celina met or exceeded expectations across all categories. The Texas Main Street Program partnered with Main Street America to carry out the evaluation, which included staff and board assessments.
