ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Community leaders with Juneteenth1865 gear up for the return of the state’s longest running Juneteenth event, with the celebration of the holiday in the Forest City.
Juneteenth, observed June 19 and also known as Liberation Day, commemorates the emancipation of African Americans who were enslaved in the United States.
