Intense early morning blaze in Eugene extinguished, cause under investigation

EUGENE, Ore. — A house fire broke out early Friday morning in Eugene in the 1000 block of W. 3rd Ave.

According to Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF), firefighters first responded to reports around 1:18 a.m. after neighbors reported heavy flames coming from the roof of the home with victims possibly inside.

ESF Engine 2, from the Whiteaker station, responded as part of a full fire response of 4 engines, 1 ladder truck and 2 chiefs.

When crews arrived on scene they saw significant flames emitting from the residence and began their initial attack. As soon as Tower 2 arrived, ESF says, a search for victims was made in all searchable spaces…
