(WLOS) — Asheville is entering an extended period of high temperatures, with forecasts calling for daily highs in the 90s for at least five consecutive days.
The heat wave is being driven by a “heat dome,” which is high pressure that traps hot air near the surface and prevents cooler air from moving in.
This weather pattern can lead to prolonged periods of extreme heat.
