Two boaters were rescued as a seventeen meter sportfish yacht titled m/y Turn Me Loose sank 34 nautical miles off the coast of Virginia Beach at 9:07 morning time of Thursday twelve June. The two boaters, a sixty year old father and thirty year old son launched a distress call advising the sportfish yacht was sinking and its position, after which they abandoned ship and jumped into the life raft. US Coast Guard Sector Virginia received the call, for which they dispatched a 45 foot response craft, a patrol craft, and a Jayhawk helicopter, who were later assisted by Virginia Beach Fire Boat 12.
