Tornado with quarter-sized hail possible in Chester and Delaware counties Thursday – move to nearest shelter

On Thursday at 5:02 p.m. a tornado warning was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 5:30 p.m. for Chester and Delaware counties.

Quarter-sized hail (1 inch) is predicted with the incoming storm.

“At 5:02 p.m., a large and extremely dangerous tornado was located over Landenberg, or 7 miles north of Newark, moving northeast at 40 mph,” states the weather service. “You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction is possible.”…
