Judge delays plea deal decision in deadly US 60 in Mesa amid family outrage

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The parents of a young woman killed by a man driving on a suspended license last year were hoping a judge would shoot down a plea deal they felt was too lenient for the suspect. That did not happen, and the case has been delayed.

The plea prosecutors offered to Nicholas Meyer was set to expire Friday, but a Maricopa County Superior Court judge in Phoenix extended that offer until the next court hearing. The defense is asking for more time to accept or reject the deal.
