Grand Strand Humane Society thankful for outpouring of community donations

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Hundreds of donations were dropped off at the Grand Strand Humane Society after shelter workers reached out in desperate need of items.

Taking care of nearly 400 animals every day, Grand Strand Humane Society’s executive director, Jess Wnuk, said that during the summertime, the shelter takes in even more animals using even more supplies. But after posting on Facebook asking for dry dog food, wet cat food, and linens, she said the response from the community has been remarkable.

“Thirteen years doing this job, and it never ceases to make me emotional how the community steps up for us. Truly, it’s a beautiful thing to see,” she said. “We put out a post for emergency fosters, emergency food, emergency linens, and our parking lot is full the next day, and that’s something a lot of communities don’t have. We are so blessed here that we truly couldn’t do it without this community.”…
