June 18, 2025 – Outstanding police work led to Wednesday’s 2 a.m. arrest of convicted felon James Jones Jr., 51, who was wanted for the June 12 shooting/robbery that injured a man who was at a bus stop at 10 Fairfield Avenue. The victim was shot in the leg and his phone, cash, and backpack were taken.
Hermitage Precinct Officer Eric Ziegler was conducting an extra patrol early this morning when he spotted Jones, who had outstanding warrants from the June 12 incident, riding a bicycle on Fairfield Avenue.
As Officer Ziegler attempted to take him into custody, Jones dropped his bicycle and fled on foot, tossing a handgun under a car as he ran. He was apprehended a short time later. The gun was recovered. Jones was in possession of three phones, .5 grams of fentanyl, and 2.6 grams of cocaine…
