SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — This weekend, Girl Scouts from all over the country will come to Savannah – the birthplace of Girl Scouting – for an important ceremony. They’re coming to take part in bridging Savannah’s bridge, one of the most colorful and meaningful Girl Scout celebrations.
“Bridging Savannah’s Bridge” — which symbolizes moving up one level of scouting to the next –is a proud tradition of sisterhood and growth. Girl Scouts age 10 and up walk from Hutchinson Island, across the tall Talmadge Bridge and into downtown Savannah. Each step represents their progress from daisies to brownies, brownies to juniors and more. Younger girls join too, riding the Savannah Belles Ferry for their own bridging.

The tradition began nearly two decades ago and has grown to become one of the largest Girl Scout bridging events in the country. Scout troops from all over come to the even because it takes place in the city where Girl Scouting began in 1912.
The event kicks off Saturday morning at 8 a.m. with music, custom patches for the Girl Scouts and plenty of fun and treats…
