Avoid heat-related illness while outdoors this summer

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – It’s the first day of summer, and high temperatures can be a cause for concern for outdoor activities.

Doctor Austin Sherman, a family practitioner doctor who works at Novant Health, says there are signs the heat is affecting your body.

“Heat-related illnesses could be something like heat stroke,” says Doctor Sherman. “Some of the signs for that would be extreme exhaustion, extreme sweating, and having trouble catching your breath.”…
