Kilgore: HB 2 appreciated, but help is still needed

In the wake of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signing a massive deal his office says is aimed at investing in education and educators, the leader of Ingleside ISD acknowledged that it is a step in the right direction. However, he says that the need for assistance remains even after the bill’s passing.

On June 4, Abbott signed into law an $8.5-billion public education funding package, which is meant to help school districts such as Ingleside ISD. And while IISD Superintendent Scott Kilgore said the help is much appreciated, it’s but a step in the direction things need to go for education in the state.

To keep up with rising costs associated with an increase in student population, the need for funding for certain district programs, and more, Kilgore said, is going to require even more help than the bill – while monumental – can provide on its own…
