Poudre Fire Authority’s Station 7 prioritizes firefighter well-being, specialized training

Poudre Fire Authority’s newest fire station aims to mix the old with the new while prioritizing firefighter well-being.

Poudre Fire Authority Station 7 opened off of West Larimer County Road 54G in Laporte in April, replacing the nearly 50-year-old Station 7 that was located on Overland Trail. The land for the new station was donated by Loveland Ready Mix Concrete, PFA Division Chief Ross Reinking said.

The Station 7 crew specializes in swift water rescues, wildland fire suppression and technical rope rescues, and the new station was built specifically to support those specialties, Reinking said. Training areas are built into the station that can be used for simulated rope rescues and water rescue scenarios…
