WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The award-winning independent film, A Song for Imogene, produced by local production company Honey Head Films, will receive worldwide distribution on Amazon Prime Video. The film is scheduled for release on June 27 on major streaming services and cable operators.
Written and directed by Erika Arlee, A Song for Imogene is a gritty look at how a down-on-her-luck musician faces wave after wave of emotional trauma, while summoning the courage to escape the physical and mental abuse at the hands of her boyfriend. The film won several awards at film festivals around the world since its release in 2023, including Best Feature Film at the Rhode Island Film Festival and City of Angels Women’s Film Festival, Best Narrative Feature at the Oxford Film Fest, and Best First Feature at the Croatia International Film Fest.
“It’s really exciting because it means that more eyes get to be on the film,” Arlee said about the distribution deal. “It touches on some weighty themes, but themes that we have seen through our festival run have really resonated with audiences and have started a lot of important conversations. So, we’re excited for people around the world to not only see the film, and for the themes that we explore in it, but also to celebrate locally made independent film here in North Carolina.”…
