Summer arrived on Friday, both on the calendar and in the air. The summer solstice officially marked the start of the season, and it felt like it too, with temperatures soaring into the 90s for the first time this year.
Expect highs in the 90s to stick around for much of the upcoming week. Sunny skies, a light breeze from the south, and muggy conditions will be the norm as summer settles in.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of the Ozarks through the weekend. While air temperatures may top out in the low 90s, the heat index—the “feels like” temperature—could approach 100 degrees.
In fact, heat index values may climb as high as 105 degrees in some areas over the next few days. Be sure to take precautions to stay safe during the first heat wave of 2025. That includes staying hydrated, limiting time outdoors, and checking on vulnerable neighbors and pets.
Rain chances look slim to none this weekend. Skies will stay mostly clear, and any cloud cover will be brief. As we move into the workweek, there’s a slight chance of isolated showers, but most areas will likely remain dry.
This warm and dry pattern looks to hold steady for a while. Our next real chance for relief—and potentially some much-needed rainfall—may not come until next weekend…
