A community’s collective heart was momentarily heavy, but has since been lifted as Winnie, the Border Collie who vanished in the wake of a road collision in Hamilton County, has been found and reunited with her relieved family. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office updated their social media to share the news, following their earlier plea for assistance in locating the lost dog. In a previous post they appealed for help, stating, “Winnie was last seen running between the businesses just southwest of 146th Street on River Road, in the area just north of Harvest Church.”
Winnie’s disappearance occurred under stressful circumstances, as she bolted from a crash scene at the intersection of 146th Street and River Road. The community was urged to come to together to help find Winnie, asking residents and commuters in the Noblesville, Carmel, Fishers, and larger Hamilton County area to remain vigilant and report any sightings. Citizens were instructed to not chase Winnie but to instead keep her in sight and call the authorities, a move designed to ensure her safety and facilitate a smooth rescue.
