Staci (Schrecongost) Johnson said she was never much of a “dry-land” athlete. She wasn’t fast on the track. She couldn’t kick a soccer ball and run at the same time.
But put her in the swimming pool, and she could keep up with the best of them.
Johnson, a Valley grad, swam her way to a scholarship at Edinboro and, while with the Fighting Scots, put her name on five program records. In her senior season, she won the PSAC title in the 200 freestyle, then finished seventh in that event in the NCAA championships to earn All-American status…
