Here’s Why Amarillo Bus Stops Are Under Construction

The City of Amarillo has been tackling a lot of projects this summer. There have been several road construction projects that have happened or are ongoing, the resurfacing of the playground at John Ward Memorial (Medi) Park, and one more is underway.

You might not have noticed this one, but it’s been happening since May of this year. The City of Amarillo is tackling some of the bus stops in the city.

The City of Amarillo posted updates on social media today (June 20, 2025) regarding work taking place to upgrade several bus stops. According to their post, work began on May 12 of this year and is scheduled to last for 150 working days.

Why Are Amarillo Bus Stops Being Upgraded?

The bus stops included in the upgrade project are:

  • Warford Center
  • NW 9th & Travis
  • NW 14th & Travis
  • NW 16th & Bonham

As long as the weather plays nice, these upgrades should be finished sooner rather than later. That might be tough considering how unpredictable the weather is in Amarillo…
