In Denver, Colorado, Saturday morning was a scary day for a dog after he got stuck in a drainage pipe at the Parker Water Treatment Facility.

At 9:27 a.m., South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched, accompanying both Parker Police Department and Douglas County Animal Control to the facility at 16850 Parker House Road for an animal rescue.

Crews arrived to find a dog trapped in a drainage pipe; only his head had been visible above ground. The dog appeared scared but alert. Firefighters from Tower 45 positioned an aerial bucket to access the dog’s location and performed a “safe, controlled” rescue.

The German shepherd blend was more than ready to hop out of the aerial bucket once it touched the ground. He didn’t appear injured. No one knows how long he had been trapped or how it happened.

Douglas County Animal Control is working to identify the owner and reunite the dog with its family.
