KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Police Department posted asking for the public’s help finding a man who they say pushed police officers and evaded arrest.
On Saturday afternoon, officers stopped a car on Catalpa Avenue because the driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, KPD wrote. The driver, later identified as Amauri Adams, 23, of Knoxville, appeared to place something under the driver’s seat, police said.

When they approached the car, the officers saw a large black duffel bag with what they suspected to be prepackaged marijuana sticking out, police said. The officers tried to remove Adams from the car, but he put it in gear and fled, pushing the officers out of the vehicle. They were not injured, and the car was later found.
KPD asked for anyone with information to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers.
