Gov. Hochul pushing for clean energy power plant in Niagara County

Lewiston, N.Y. (WBEN) – New York Gov. Kathy Hochul was in Niagara County on Monday, as she announced her push for the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to develop and construct a zero-emission advanced nuclear power plant in Upstate New York to build towards the state’s clean energy economy.

This new plant would help with the demand for industrial development in New York State, while increasing the access of clean energy for industries looking to build manufacturing.

“As New York State electrifies its economy, deactivates aging fossil fuel power generation and continues to attract large manufacturers that create good-paying jobs, we must embrace an energy policy of abundance that centers on energy independence and supply chain security to ensure New York controls its energy future,” said Gov.
