‘Choose life’: Trotwood police address Madison Lakes after missing swimmer recovered

DAYTON, Ohio — Trotwood officials are addressing Madison Lakes after a water emergency resulted in a swimmer going missing and dying at the lakes.

On Saturday night, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the Trotwood Fire Department was dispatched to Madison Lakes, where family members said a group was swimming between the shores of the lake when they lost track of one swimmer.

The department began conducting search efforts with help from Clayton, Englewood, Union and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Fire Departments. The teams searched until midnight before suspending operations because of safety concerns and how long the swimmer had been submerged…
