What’s that? The ski season is over?
At Palisades Tahoe, California, Mother Nature didn’t quite get the memo this past weekend when a dusting of snow fell Saturday, covering the slopes in an uncharacteristic white blanket.
A representative from Palisades Tahoe confirmed that snow after June 20 is quite rare—it isn’t entirely unheard of, though. In 2017, snow blanketed Palisades Tahoe in June, helping refresh the ski resort’s snow base as, that year, the mountain was still open for summer skiing and riding.
This June, the snow wouldn’t benefit skiers (unless someone found the courage to ski despite the thin coverage). Palisades Tahoe ended the 2024-2025 season on May 26. By Monday, June 23, the weekend the new snow had melted away completely, per the ski resort’s webcams, although leftover coverage from the previous winter remained in some areas…
