Montecito firefighters were left with a sticky situation Monday afternoon when a large container of non-toxic adhesive spilled at a school campus and onto a nearby road.
The Montecito Fire Protection District responded around 3 p.m. to Montecito Union School, at 385 San Ysidro Road. They found that a 275-gallon container of the adhesive substance was punctured by a forklift when it was being loaded for transport, according to spokeswoman Christina Atchison.
About 200 gallons of the red substance, which was being used as a binder to repair the school track, spilled onto San Ysidro Road. The spill extended almost to the roundabout near Highway 101, she said…
