When Tony Buffa took Carolyn Lawson fishing on the Oneida River on their first date back in the early 1970s, she didn’t know what to expect.

What began as a leisurely cruise turned into a perilous journey as they approached the Caughdenoy Dam. Lawson was afraid Buffa might drive the boat right over it.
