Santa Clara County House Fire Spreads to Neighboring Property, Displacing 3 People
Fires can be terrifying, and they can spread faster than you might think. Just imagine this: it was 12:10 p.m. on a Thursday when a fire broke out on Onslow Way in East San Jose. What started as an outdoor cooking fire, caused by a propane issue, quickly spread to the house, garage, and attic.
Here’s the thing—fires like this don’t always stay contained. This one didn’t. It spread to a neighboring house, although the damage was thankfully limited to the external eaves. Still, when you think about how easily this could’ve escalated, it’s a sobering reminder of how unpredictable fires can be.
Luckily, the fire was under control by 12:45 p.m. But in that short amount of time, three people were displaced. The Red Cross stepped in, offering support to help them get back on their feet.
