Trial date set for ex-LA Wildlife Secretary Jack Montoucet in federal bribery case

A trial date has been set for former Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Jack Montoucet for his alleged involvement in a kickback scheme that led to his resignation.

A federal grand jury in Lafayette indicted Montoucet in May, charging him with one count of conspiracy to commit bribery and wire fraud, three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering in a scheme to award a Lafayette businessman a LDWF contract.

Montoucet, 77, pleaded not guilty June 12 and was released on an unsecured bond…
