Man pleads guilty in deadly 2020 Columbia shooting, gets nearly 30 years in prison

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Officials said one of two men charged in a 2020 shooting in Columbia has pleaded guilty.

The Columbia Police Department said Tuesday that 25-year-old Zachery Williams pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Wesley Brown.

Williams was then sentenced to 27 years in prison.

Williams was involved in a shooting on Senate Street near the University of South Carolina on Oct. 4, 2020. He and a second suspect reportedly approached Brown and stole his belongings before shooting him…
