Evansville’s clown-masked burglar caught after parent recognizes their teen

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A parent recognizing their teen is responsible for solving the case of a mysterious clown-masked burglar responsible for a string of break-ins and attempted home burglaries in Vanderburgh County.

Two residents of the Wellington Acres neighborhood in Evansville reported that their vehicles had been broken into June 19. The thief, caught on camera wearing a “clown-like mask,” stole cash, a laptop, and designer handbags. The mask was left at the scene.

Days later in the same neighborhood, on June 22, the masked clown tried to break into cars and homes. Surveillance video showed the burglar trying to get into vehicles and trying to open a locked garage door. One homeowner reported two window screens that were removed overnight, pointing to another break-in attempt…
