EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — James Charleston Jr., 36, of Evansville has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
According to court documents, Evansville Police Department officers were called to Garvin Street on August 3, 2024, after reports of a man waving a silver gun and shouting at people. Officers found Charleston, who refused to comply with orders and challenged the officers, saying, “I’m willing to die right now” and “You better get me before I get you.”
