Dimond High’s Nevaeh Watkins was selected as our Alaska Athlete of the Week after placing third in the high jump at Nike Outdoor Nationals clearing a jaw-dropping 5 feet, 9.25 inches at historic Hayward Field.
Her effort establishes a new Alaska girl’s prep record, surpassing the old mark by one-quarter inch. held by Chugiak’s Emma Nelson since 2018.
