Tonight, Fort Lauderdale residents may have noticed a quiet in the activity along Galt Ocean Drive, but for those maneuvering around 3400 Galt Ocean Drive, there was a need to quickly adapt to detours. City crews executed overnight exploratory digging to locate a water main valve, causing closures starting at 11 p.m. and continuing till tomorrow morning. According to an update by the City of Fort Lauderdale, the much-needed work wrapped up at 5:30 a.m.
The shutdown required both lanes of Galt Ocean Drive at the venue of Greek Islands Taverna, nestled between Southpoint Condominium and L’Hermitage Condominium, to be inaccessible during the work schedule. Local traffic was diverted and had to solely access points south of NE 36th Street. Detours were put in place, guiding through traffic to A1A / N.
