FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Fort Wayne City Council tabled discussions Tuesday that would have approved funding for another portion of the Urban Trail, which will stretch across downtown Fort Wayne when completed.
City Council opted to hold its vote for a future meeting. If approved, the ordinance would provide more than $1.6 million to a section of the Urban Trail along Superior Street between Clinton and Lafayette streets. Other additions include updated ADA ramps, new pedestrian lighting and landscaping.
Councilman Russ Jehl, who oversees the 2nd District and serves as the body’s president, said the section is within a TIF District, but the project would be funded through local income tax dollars with how the ordinance is currently composed, so some councilmembers wanted to take more time to look over the project and see what is the best way to fund it…
